And you thought that the NFL would be a straight shooter at the start of this coming season. Brett the human headline Favre is back to strapping up his football boots.Retirement is put back yet again for the great Brett Favre who will be running on for Minnesota Vikings this season.
AP reports a rush on preseason and season tickets became apparent following the news.There was trouble for ticket sellers keeping up with the demand. TicketNews reports that thier contacts said it was a crazy couple of days. “We have been swamped. It’s been huge [ever since] it was announced that [Brett Favre] was flying to Minnesota. The Vikings’ Web site actually crashed.” said one seller.
The interst has been reflected in higher prices for Vicking s games.Some ticket prices have doubled in the past few days.Going back to his old Green Bay stomping ground is the game most anticipated.Some of the high profile ticket retailers noticed a massive jump in the price of thier tickets.At 48 hours post-announcement, RazorGator’s lowest priced tickets for the game start at $387, with those for the Vikings’s October 5 home game against the Packers starting at $225.
There are ways to get reasonably priced tickets. “The best deals [at Ticket King] right now are preseason, of course, and the Detroit Lions on the 15th of November and Cincinnati Bengals the 13th of December,” Storsved said. But things may change quickly in the current environment. “We haven’t changed our pricing too much on those games, but last night people started to pick on the less expensive games…people are starting to get a little price conscious. If we continue to move tickets like we are right now, the prices will go up for those [less expensive tickets].”
Brett Favre played 16 seasons with the Green Bay Packers and one year with the New York Jets. He was awarded the NFL’s MVP on three occasions in 1995, 1996 and 1997.
